Brother Anthony Roccio

Anthony William Roccio, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, died peacefully on June 14, 2024 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was 92.

Tony, as he was better known, was born in Providence and raised in Cranston, RI, and was the elder son of the late Venio and Margaret (Hobin) Roccio.

He was the devoted husband of the late Anne Marie (Mello) Roccio.

After graduating from Cranston High School, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean war. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he worked in communications, leading him to train as an electrician upon returning home to Cranston. Tony became a Master Electrician and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 99. He worked as an electrician for over 40 years before retiring to Florida.

Tony was an avid golfer. His greatest joy was playing golf with his children, grandchildren, brother and many friends. He was a fixture at his grandchildren’s youth sports games and an enthusiastic fan of all levels of athletic competition, from amateur to pro leagues.

After many years in Cranston, Tony spent most of his retirement years in sunny Bonita Springs, Florida, where he took daily walks on the beach along the Gulf of Mexico.

Anthony is survived by his children William Roccio (Ann), Robert A. Roccio, and Cheryl Prignano (Stephen). He was the beloved grandfather of Matthew Roccio (Lauren), Michael Roccio, Christina Prignano Deering (Josh) and Lindsey Prignano (Rick), great-grandchildren Matthew Jr., Liam, and Luke Roccio, and beloved brother of Donald Roccio.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate, RI. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
