Brother Daniel Hogberg

Brother Daniel Hogberg passed away on Friday, April 22nd, 2022, at the age of 87.

“Dan”, 87, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022. Beloved husband of Libera “Libby” (Luciano) Hogberg. Loving father of Karin Marzilli and husband, Steven, Jon Hogberg and wife, Kristen and Dianne Gibree and husband, Phil. Loving grandfather of Matthew (Elizabeth), Eric (Louann), Cristian (Valerie) Hogberg, Evan (Madison) and Lee Marzilli, Philip and the late Allyson Gibree and great-grandchildren Sophie, Hannah, Kerrin, Ava, Benjamin Hogberg and Bella Gray. Brother of Kenneth Hogberg and wife, Willa, and Karen Culton and husband, Donald.

Dan was an honorable man who loved his family and his country. He was an Air Force Veteran and a Naval Reserve Veteran (Retired). He was an electrician and later worked for the Gilbane Building Company for several years overseeing many electrical projects. He was a member of the RI Air Force Veterans Memorial Committee and voluntarily assumed responsibility for overseeing construction of the Memorial at the RI Veterans Cemetery. Dan was affiliated with many associations: RI Military Vehicle Collectors Club, Sampson AFB Veterans Association-RI Regional Squadron Chapter, Quiet Birdmen, IBEW Local 99, RI Pilot’s Association, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association.

Dan loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid sports fan who loved to watch the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins as well as college sports. Dan also coached many youth hockey teams over the years. He had a deep passion for working on his military jeeps and loved flying airplanes and being a flight instructor and teaching hundreds of student pilots. He was so proud of his Swedish heritage and one of his proudest moments was flying the King and Queen of Sweden around Newport and parts of RI.
