Brother Tom Lynch
Thomas Joseph Lynch of Narragansett, Rhode Island, passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born August 22, 1944, in Providence, Tom was the son of Irish immigrants and the youngest of four. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, where he was a talented football player, and attended Missouri State University on a football scholarship. He also served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard Reserve.
Tom spent his working life in the electrical trade, building a career that took him from leadership roles on large-scale power plant and industrial construction projects to representing and advocating for electrical workers. A master electrician, he served as Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 99 from 1995-2002, representing electrical workers throughout the state of Rhode Island. His expertise was recognized through appointments to local and national boards concerned with building and electrical safety codes. He was especially proud of his work strengthening Local 99's pension program for its members and their families.
Tom loved football, fishing, classic cars, and listening to the music he grew up with. Some of his favorite days were spent aboard his Parker boat fishing the waters off the southeast side of Block Island for striped bass. He was often found driving his blue antique 1964 Chevrolet truck around Narragansett.
Tom and his longtime partner, Sharon, shared a love of travel and spent many winters at their home in Cape Coral, Florida. Tom returned often to Kilnaleck, County Cavan, where he remained close to his large Irish family.
Tom is predeceased by his sister, Patricia and his brother, James. He is survived by his longtime partner, Sharon LaPierre; his daughters, Kerrie Ann and Colleen Elizabeth; his sons-in-law, Andrew Beeber and Jim Flynn; and his grandchildren, Harper Rose and Grady Thomas. He is also survived by Sharon's daughters, Tina and Tammy; his sister, Mary of Brewster, Massachusetts, and her husband, Jack; and their extended family.
Tom will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2027, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the North Beach Clubhouse in Narragansett.
Family, friends, and former colleagues are warmly invited to join us in remembering Tom and sharing stories from his life.
