First:  On the day of application all applicants will need a valid driver’s license, a High School diploma or have a GED.  You will need a passing grade of “C” or “70” in Algebra 1.  You will have thirty days to supply a copy of your birth certificate and a High School transcript.

Second:  Applicants will take an exam that meets a national standard; the exam is 50% reading comprehension and 50% mathematics (including Algebra).  When an applicant receives a passing grade they will be granted an interview.  An applicant’s score on the interview will determine if they are accepted into the Apprenticeship program.

The apprenticeship program is a 5 year program; as long as you meet all the requirements of the Apprenticeship Agreement, you will be granted a full tuition scholarship that is paid by the Apprenticeship Trust Fund. However, the Apprentice will be responsible to purchase books, maintain acceptable grades and attend all classes; the program runs from September to May each year, typically two nights a week.
