Brother David Gorman
On Thursday, November 24, David Charles Gorman of Rumford, Rhode Island passed away after a short illness. David was born on July 27, 1960 and grew up in Barrington Rhode Island and later in Seekonk Massachusetts. He was the son of Judith E. Gorman (née Blackinton) and the late Walter R. Gorman. David is survived by his two sons, Andrew C. Gorman, and Alexander D. Gorman, both of Pawtucket, R.I. In addition to his children, he is survived by a brother, Walter R. Gorman Jr. of Port St. Lucie Florida, a sister Elizabeth J. McElroy of Jensen Beach Florida, a sister Kathleen F. Terrell of Providence RI, a brother Fredric R. Gorman of Providence RI and a sister Susan L. Gorman of Barrington RI.
As a teen David was involved in scouting as a member of the Seekonk Boy Scouts and attained the Silver Standard of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
David was a graduate of Seekonk High School, class of 1979 and had an Associate’s Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island, having graduated with honors and making the National Dean’s List. He had also served in the Navy Reserves, Seabees Division and later served in the Rhode Island National Guard.
David worked as a Telecom Technician and was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local union #99.
David enjoyed socializing, especially at the Democratic Club of Barrington, where he was an active member. He had a keen interest in photography and enjoyed taking photographs at family functions. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when he was camping with friends or family and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a gun enthusiast and was a member of the Tiverton Rod-Gun Club.
